Ina Elvira Knight
April 22, 1930 - September 6, 2005
Ina Elvira Knight was released from her broken body on September 6, 2005. A 45-year resident of the Sacramento area, Ina passed away at age 75 from complications resulting from a stroke. Born April 22, 1930, at Bingham Canyon, Utah, to Ivan and Rose Sandstrom, she is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lester Knight of Folsom, and her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Doug Printz of El Dorado Hills. She is predeceased by her son, Wayne Knight, and her two brothers, Jack Mezenen and Lloyd Sandstrom. Moving to Sacramento from North Salt Lake, Utah, in 1960 was a big adventure for the entire family, and it was here that Ina blossomed into the beautiful woman she was meant to be. In the early 1960s she began her working career with the Easter Seal Society. In the mid to late 1960s she worked at McClellan Air Force Base, and in the 1970s she worked at SMUD, from which she retired in 1980. Until the stroke in 1994 that robbed her of the use of her body, Ina enjoyed traveling with her husband around the world and then full-time in their various RVs, square dancing--especially with the Starlite Shufflers, hand crafting of all kinds, and reading. Her favorite authors were Barbara Taylor Bradford and Danielle Steel. Lester and Ina gathered many friends along their journeys, and Ina's famous Mona Lisa smile and bright blue eyeswill be dearly missed by so many. We wish to thank Marti Burris who stepped into a very difficult situation and provided kind, compassionate and competent care for both Lester and Ina for almost a year. Marti was truly God's answer to our prayers. Viewing will be held Monday, September 12th at 12 noon followed by a funeral service at 1 P.M. at Green Valley Mortuary, corner of Green Valley and Bass Lake Roads, Cameron Park. Interment at Green Valley Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Stroke Association, 2007 O Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.
